Hello BAC Members,

I wanted to personally share some important news with you.

After 25 wonderful years of owning and operating the Beverly Athletic Club, I have made the decision to begin the next chapter by closing the business and selling the Reservoir Road facility to the YMCA of the North Shore. The YMCA has acquired the building and will be making it part of its Greater Beverly YMCA campus as the Edwin J. Soul Center.

This was not an easy decision for me. The BAC has been a very special part of my life for more than two decades, and the community that has grown here means a great deal to me. When I began thinking about what the future might look like, my most important priority was finding the right organization to carry forward what we have built together.

I truly believe the YMCA is that organization. For nearly 200 years, the YMCA has been dedicated to strengthening communities by providing welcoming spaces where people of all ages can pursue health, wellness, and connection. Their mission and values align closely with what we have tried to create at the BAC, and I am confident they will continue to build on the spirit and sense of community that has always made this club special.

What this means for you.

The goal of this transition is to make things as smooth and seamless as possible for our members. You will have the opportunity to transition your membership to the YMCA and continue using the Reservoir Road facility, while also gaining access to the entire YMCA of the North Shore network.

Your new YMCA membership will include:

• Access to the Edwin J. Soul Center (Formerly BAC), with a 16+ fitness center

• New fitness equipment coming to the Reservoir Road Facility, including E-Gym, Matrix Onyx Line, Life Fitness Insignia Line, Life Fitness Symbio, and Hammer Strength

• New lower membership rates through the YMCA

• Complimentary Kids Club babysitting included with membership

• Group exercise classes and additional member benefits at no extra cost

• Access to the Sterling Center YMCA in Beverly and additional YMCA locations in Gloucester, Ipswich, Marblehead, Salem, Haverhill, and Plaistow, NH

• Access to the Express Facility at the Cummings Center

As a BAC member, you will be able to enroll in a YMCA membership starting tomorrow,, with no payments beginning until June 1, 2026. This allows you to continue enjoying the facility while also gaining access to the full YMCA network and its expanded offerings.

Over the years, it has truly been my privilege to get to know so many of you and to be part of your health and wellness journeys. The friendships, conversations, and sense of community that developed here are something I will always be grateful for.

While this is a transition, I believe it is also an exciting opportunity. The YMCA will bring new energy, additional programs, and expanded resources that will allow this facility to continue serving the community for many years to come.
